boykopovar/AnyPS5

Tool for automatic PS5 executables porting to Linux and Windows

Project

What it does

Converts PS5 executables into native programs that Linux and Windows can run directly. Note that it is not an emulator — it does not emulate a PS5; it rewrites the program into the target system's format so it runs like local software.

Features

  • At its core is a tool called relinker: it relinks the executable into the target system's native format
  • It implements the PS5 system libraries (prx) itself, so converted programs can find the functions they need
  • There is no emulator and no separate runtime process, so in theory overhead is lower than an emulator's
  • It includes a shader recompiler that converts PS5 shaders into SPIR-V (a common intermediate format for graphics interfaces)
  • A web-based converter is provided; files stay on your own device and are not uploaded to a server

Good fit for

  • You want to study or run PS5 programs you legally own on your own computer
  • You work on compatibility research or software preservation
  • You want to study the technical details of binary relinking and system library implementation

Advice

  • Start with the web converter: open boykopovar.github.io/AnyPS5, drag files in, and the files never leave your machine
  • Check the Game bring-up section of Discussions to see whether anyone has tried the program you want to run; there is one thread per game
  • Controllers work via SDL mapping; keyboard and mouse require writing your own anyps5-input.ini, with the format described in docs/user/INPUT_MAPPING.md

Cautions

  • The project does not provide, distribute, or require any copyrighted software, firmware, or keys; you must legally obtain the programs you want to convert
  • The README states plainly that unsupported or unexpected states throw an exception and terminate the process — it either crashes or exits, with very low fault tolerance
  • Compatibility advances game by game; do not expect that installing it will run every game
